Tomando como muestra un túnel de 1Km. de distancia, con un desarrollo de 25m. podemos ver como la diferencia económica y de ejecución es muy elevada. No solo porqué el metro cuadrado de LÁMINA VISTA CARFOAM® sea más barato, sino porque con el sistema CARFOAM® no es necesario impermeabilizar el 100% de la superficie. Normalmente con cubrir el 40% es suficiente. Esto supone un enorme ahorro económico, pero también un ahorro en recursos, en tiempos de ejecución y en incidencias sobre el funcionamiento normal del túnel.

REVESTIMIENTO HORMIGÓN PVC:
Si el mismo caso fuera para la rehabilitación de un túnel, la diferencia de coste entre ambas soluciones, sería mucho mayor. Pues para poder revestir un túnel con el sistema de PVC más HORMIGÓN, antes hay que realizar tareas de adecuación que aumentan el tiempo y el monto de la obra ostensiblemente. Estas tareas son: el repicado y gunitado de las zonas a reparar y el montaje de las nuevas instalaciones. Y a todo esto habría que sumarle el coste indirecto y molestias, que supone el cierre del túnel y el cese del servicio durante la duración de la obra.
Para la rehabilitación de un túnel con el sistema LÁMINA VISTA CARFOAM®, no es necesario cesar el servicio del túnel en su totalidad, solo sobre las zonas sobre las que se va a trabajar. No hace falta casi tareas de adecuación como el repicado. Tan solo hay que relalizar una revisión del túnel y colocar las LÁMINAS VISTA CARFOAM®, sobre las zonas que se estime necesario.
Con el sistema LÁMINA VISTA CARFOAM®, podemos llegar a ahorros muy elevados de entre u 500% y 900%. E incluso más elevados en casos de obras sobre túneles con superficies muy grandes.
The exposed outer layer provides mechanical resistance.
The intermediate layer has the desired degree of thermal insulation thanks to the crosslinked polyethylene or polyolefin foam.
The inner face, the one that is in contact with the tunnel surface, provides mechanical resistance, weldable and drainage and consists of a CHANNEL-EMBOSSED ALU FILM.
The set allows you to obtain a fire classification, according to the European standard EN 13501 of Bs1D0.
The whole set is thermofused with each other to guarantee that it is practically unalterable in time (see technical data sheet).

The test results of the autoclave-test can be extrapolated according to Arrhenius to determine the membrane’s life expectancy.

This is the most typical installation of the CARFOAM® System, constituting the final wall-covering of the work.
In works carried out with the New Austrian Method, using studs, sprayed concrete, etc., as a means of support, the CARFOAM® System provides a complete wall-covering that is definitive and perfectly impervious.
This method of installation can also be used in the cavern of electric power plants, tunnels and galleries in stone, where it is not necessary to use cement as a waterproofed that can often de found in these kinds of projects, sometimes reaching a depth or a height of as much as one meter, are no problem at all, because the CARFOAM® System is desingned to be adapted to any kind of surface while maintaining all of its properties unalterable.
This method of installation gives the CARFOAM® System one of its main advantages when it comes to waterproofing projects that have already been completed, where the ineffectiveness or the non-existence of prior waterproofing calls for definitive and integral waterproofing. This is frequently the case with older works carried out with less highly developed technology, such as train tunnels, roads and underground train stations.
Sandwich Installations
In the case of projects that envisage a concrete slab finish, the classic “sandwich” waterproofing can be applied with the CARFOAM® System, guaranteeing total imperviousness for an unlimited period of time and a shorter installation period in comparison with other methods.
Exterior waterproofing of Artificial Tunnels
The Sheet makes it possible to waterproof the outside of ARTIFICIAL TUNNELS and does not require any kind of geotextile protection becaused its special multi-layered fabrication gives the sheet tremendous mechanical resistance that allows direct contact with fill.
CARFOAM® Exposed Sheet Construction Method
It is the typical application of the CARFOAM® system, remaining as the final coating for the work. In works carried out by the new Austrian method, which uses bolts, shotcrete, etc … As support, the CARFOAM® system provides a total, perfectly watertight and definitive covering.
This form of placement is also used in caves of power plants, tunnels and rock galleries, where it is not necessary to use concrete as support. The irregularities that this type of work presents on the surface to be waterproofed, which can reach up to 1 meter in some cases, are not a problem since the CARFOAM® system is designed to adapt to any surface while maintaining all its properties unaltered.
This installation method gives the CARFOAM® system, one of its main advantages when it comes to waterproofing works already completed, in which, due to the lack of efficiency or lack of previous waterproofing, a complete and definitive waterproofing is necessary. This almost is very frequent in old works carried out with less technological development, such as railway tunnels, roads and metro stations.
